Hi! I’m Lila Glantzman-Leib, welcome! I am a clinical social worker and I work through a humanistic and relational framework, centering that you are the expert in your own life and that our relationship is a dynamic one that fosters growth. Together we will identify and draw from the many strengths you already have. I engage with clients primarily from a psychodynamic perspective. Using a psychodynamic framework, you and I will collaboratively explore how your past and present familial dynamics, childhood, and previous lived experiences are woven into the fabric of your being and how you engage with the world. I also support folks in identifying and exploring somatic experiences of emotions. Exploring somatic experiences provides room to identify how feelings manifest physically, as our body and mind are intrinsically interconnected. I provide support in identifying emotions as well as skills and ways to cope with these emotions holistically.
I know first-hand, through my own experiences, how vulnerable it can be to begin therapy. This is a powerful step to take to further explore yourself. As a therapist, it is truly an honor to collaboratively hold space for folks to unpack and explore their thoughts, feelings and lived experiences. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to share in the most intimate experiences of folk’s lives and support fostering growth within a space that is filled with warmth, compassion, humor and understanding.
Specialties
I specialize in supporting folks processing childhood experiences of abuse (sexual, physical and psychological) and neglect (emotional and physical neglect) .I support folks who are navigating low self-esteem, anxiety (which can manifest as difficulty feeling calm within one’s mind and body), difficulty engaging in self-compassion and exploring boundaries and needs within relationships with others (including romantic, familial and platonic). I also support folks who are processing loss in its many forms (whether it be loss by death, ending a relationship, and grief surrounding childhood experiences).
My Philosophy
Our therapeutic relationship operates as the epicenter to facilitate what you are looking for in the therapeutic space. Our initial sessions will center on building a relationship based in compassion, understanding and warmth at whatever pace you feel comfortable with. Healing, in its many shapes and forms, is not linear, and I am here to support you in whatever comes up in our co-created space together.
As a graduate from Columbia University School of Social Work, with a background in social justice, I have been trained to work with folks from an anti-oppressive, trauma informed and person in environment approach. None of us exist in a vacuum. Human beings are complex and nuanced and we are all influenced by a myriad of factors. I have experience working in different settings ranging from an intensive outpatient program for young adults, a community mental health agency, and a telehealth private practice. I have had the honor of working with folks aged 4-64 years old, with a variety of different needs and presenting challenges including mood disorders, anxiety, grief and trauma.
