“I offer a supportive space to feel understood, ease anxiety or self-doubt, and find new ways of connecting with yourself and others. I work with individuals and couples to build self-compassion, strengthen relationships, and move through life’s challenges with more clarity and ease.”

More About Gaby

Hi, I’m Gaby Gerstman, a psychotherapist based in New York City. I approach therapy as a space to bring your whole self into awareness. My work is relational and somatic, inviting presence with your emotions, experiences, and the patterns that arise to help you feel more connected to and trusting of yourself. I work with adults navigating anxiety, shame, self-criticism, periods of depression or disconnection, relationship challenges, and life transitions, and I also support couples looking to strengthen connection and communication. My role is to create a grounded, compassionate space where you can heal, grow, and reconnect with yourself.

Specialties & Who I Work With

With individuals, I specialize in supporting people who are:

  • Navigating anxiety, self-doubt, or periods of disconnection
  • Healing from relational or family dynamics that shape how they show up with others
  • Creatives and deep feelers wanting to reconnect with their confidence, intuition, and voice
  • Exploring self-acceptance, boundaries, and what it means to live more fully as themselves

With couples, therapy can be a space to:

  • Build comfort in sharing and practice deeper vulnerability with your partner, both in and outside of sessions
  • Notice and shift cycles that keep you feeling stuck
  • Explore your attachment styles and relational dynamics with compassion
  • Develop and bring home tools for clearer, more supportive communication
  • Nurture trust and closeness in your relationship

At the heart of therapy is the relationship we build, grounded in safety, curiosity, and connection. Our work moves at a pace that feels right for you, creating space to slow down and notice what’s happening beneath the surface, both in how you feel and how you relate to yourself and others. Through an attachment lens, I help you tune into what’s present in your emotions and body, making room for both the sensitive and resilient parts of you to emerge with understanding and self-trust.

Therapy Approach

My approach is relational and down-to-earth. I meet you where you are and tailor our work to what feels most supportive in each moment. I draw from Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, mindfulness, psychodynamic, and somatic approaches to support emotional regulation, deepen insight, and strengthen your connection to yourself and others.

Background & Training

I earned my Master of Social Work and have foundational training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), EMDR (Level 1), and mindfulness-based approaches. I’m certified in Level 1 Gottman Method and integrate Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) principles in my work with couples.

My work in community mental health strengthened my dedication to culturally responsive and affirming care. I care deeply about creating a therapeutic space that feels safe and inclusive for people of all identities and lived experiences, including LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities.

Location & Availability

I see clients in person at our Midtown Manhattan office near Grand Central and virtually across New York State. I accept Aetna insurance, offer sliding-scale options, and provide superbills for other plans. Sessions are available on weekdays and evenings.
